Monash University ftp server closing down

After 30 years of operation the "nihongo" ftp server at Monash University is closing down. The mirror site at edrdg.org will continue to operate and will be updated daily with the JMdict/EDICT/Kanjidic/etc. files.

The URL(s) of the edrdg.org server are:
- http://ftp.edrdg.org/pub/Nihongo/00INDEX.html
- ftp://ftp.edrdg.org/pub/Nihongo/00INDEX.html
rsync access is:
- rsync ftp.edrdg.org::nihongo/filname filename

It the end of an era. The Monash ftp server was a major distribution place Japanese-related files in the early pre-WWW days.

I retired years ago. The shutdown is because the sysadmins think anonymous FTP is a security risk.
